Firelighter Strips – Economical DIY Firestarters

These firelighter strips are made from the trimmings and selvedges of our beeswax wraps – a natural and non-toxic blend of cotton fabric, beeswax, tree resin and oil.   Perfect for lighting your winter fires, sparking up the summer BBQ, or kicking off a roaring campfire adventure.

Just twist or scrunch up as much as you need to create your own custom-sized firestarters! Whether you want a tiny one for the BBQ or a chunky one for a damp fire, you’re in control.

Lightweight, compact and waterproof, our strips will even light after a dunking, making them a brilliant, flexible addition to any camping kit. Plus, they’re a more economical option — we leave the balling-up fun to you, so you save a bit more.

Strips are sold by weight, but we have noted the equivalent number of pre-made firelighters next to each option for your convenience - you may find you can make many more firelighters to suit your needs out of the same weight. 

Supplied in cardboard boxes.

To use:
Take a strip or a few strips and twist or ball them up.
Set your fire and tuck your homemade firelighter in among the kindling.
Light the firelighter in place using a match (never while holding it).
Your firelighter will burn hot, long, and strong — giving your fire a great start.

Safety Notes:

• Do not store near fire -  the wax blend may melt and stain the surface they are on. 
• Do not light firelighter while holding it - these burn hot and catch fire quickly. 
• Yes, they are colourful.  NO, they will NOT make a beautiful alternative to birthday cake candles.  
• Please make sure fires are only lit in a safe location, and ensure you follow all local seasonal fire restrictions. 
• Always ensure that fires are properly contained and safely extinguished.
